INDIGENOUS LAND by RICHARD TABAKA

Born in1948 in Poland. In March 1982 migrated to Australia where he lives today. Graduated from Technical University in Łódź. Diploma of Professional Artist Photographer (ZPAF). Between 1970–1976 actively involved in amateur photography presenting his work in many group and one show exhibitions in Poland and abroad.

From mid 70’s his art activities aim to analyse relations between visual art and perception processes of an individual at both consciousness and sub-consciousness levels. From 1977 through to 1981 He attempted to give his ideological program entitled Beyond Form a visual shape in a series of individual exhibitions and group presentations using various media such as photography, film, installations.

He was involved in Photo-Medium-Art – very active art movement initiated in Wroclaw and number of art seminars such as:
•  Limited Conditions of Photography – Katowice, 1997
•  International Session of Contextual Art organised by Remont Gallerv, Warsaw 1978 
•  Edinburgh Art 78 – international artistic trip, 1978 – Richard Demarco Gallery in Edinburgh Scotland

His artistic manifestation, Beyond Form, was further presented internationally at:
•  Katano Circus Gallery in Kobe, Japan 1979
•  Fotografia polska 1839-1979 – International Center of Photography in New York 
•  Contact from Contemplation to Agitation – within 8th International Print Biennale in Cracow, Poland 1980 
•  From Poland – Galleries AI and Westbeth – Tokyo, Japan 
•  La Photographie Polonaise 1900-1981 – Musée National d’Art Modern, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, France 
•  Enweiterte Fotografie, 5th Internationale Biennale – Die Viener Secession, Austria 1981.

He presented his work and artistic concept Beyond Form at Sydney College of the Art after arriving in Australia in 1982. He then concentrated on commercial photography and graphic art until 2004. Since than he participated in:
•  Homeless Gallery Geelong edition of the international touring exhibition 
•  Exposure 4 – gallery Xposure, Sydney in April 2005
•  Warringah Art Exposition at Manly Vale Art Centre, Sydney, July 2015 
•  Beyond Hunter at Rothbury Estate in the Hunter Valley, December 2005 
•  Outback Australia and Sydney and Surrounds From Above photographic books published in 2008–2010.
